Medical Microdermabrasion

Medical Microdermabrasion is a Non Surgical method of rejuvenation by means of mechanical skin exfoliation without chemicals or laser. Medical microdermabrasion offers a modern, virtually painless alternative to chemical and laser peels, it is a versatile procedure that we often combine with other treatments such as a Glycolic Peel to help achieve the desired results.

This non surgical skin resurfacing procedure immediately restores smoother younger looking skin and is great for treating the following conditions:

• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Sun damaged skin
• Acne scarring
• Blackheads
• Whiteheads
• Oily, dry or patchy skin

To achieve the best possible results a course of sessions is often recommended, anywhere from five to twelve sessions are standard, plus some maintenance sessions for long term results. Each session lasts between thirty and forty minutes, allowing the procedure to be done on a break from work.

Hyperpigmentation

The environment can leave harsh pigmentation marks on fair skin that can make you look older than your years.

Hyperpigmentation occurs when your body produces an excess amount of melanin, which is the pigment portion of your skin. It results in brown spots, age spots, freckles, or patches of darkened skin. This overproduction of melanin is most often seen on those areas of the body that are exposed to the sun (face, chest, and hands). As your body ages, your skin gets thinner. This heightens the visibility of age spots. We have 3 different lasers to treat these harmless, but unsightly pigmentation marks.

Acne

If you are suffering from Acne you don’t have to be embarrassed, it’s actually quite common.
But don’t believe you have to live with it.

About 90% of all teenagers and 25% of all adults experience acne at some point in their lives. Acne is not caused by eating chocolate, greasy foods or bad hygiene! While the physical appearance of acne is quite obvious, the emotional pain can be devastating – and long lasting.

The causes of acne can differ from person to person, so it is necessary to manage the acne condition based on the presenting factors for each individual. For example it's a known fact that if active acne is treated during your teen years, there is a high likelihood that you will not suffer any active scarring. Experts now believe that the increased stress in our lives is the main cause behind increased breakouts of acne in women and men aged 25-45.

What is acne?

1. Acne begins when a build up of oil occurs in the hair follicle, creating a plug that traps oil and dead cells under the surface of the skin.
2. The clogged follicle becomes a fertile breeding ground for P. acne's bacteria – the main cause of acne. The P. acne's bacteria thrive when there is a lack of oxygen.
3. New research has shown that by targeting the pore with light, it creates an oxygen rich environment that destroys the P. acne's.

What acne treatments are available?

Acne is quite often treated with a variety of topical and oral medications. Inflammatory acne often requires the chronic use of antibiotics by mouth. Laser treatment can usually lead to a lessening of the amount of required antibiotics. Laser treatment can improve not only the inflamed acne, but also leads to improvement in acne scars. Specific lasers designed to treat acne are quite often used in combination with other treatments such as Medical Microdermabrasion to get the skin back to the best condition possible.
