Introducing the Dermapen with Exosomes technology

At Dundrum Clinic we’re always on the lookout for the latest cosmetic technology – and this one is potentially the most exciting yet.

We now use the Dermapen with exosomes technology for skin rejuvenation treatments. In simple terms this is like an advanced form of microneedling, but with extra benefits for your skin and even less risk of bruising or downtime after your procedure.

But first off, let’s explain what we mean when we say exosomes technology.

What are exosomes?

Exosomes are tiny bubbles produced by the cells in your body. They act like messengers, carrying important information such as proteins, lipids, and genetic material (like RNA) from one cell to another.

You could think of exosomes as tiny packages that cells use to communicate with each other. These messages allow cells to work together, repair tissues, and even send important signals to your immune system.

So what does this mean for your skin? Well, because exosomes improve communication between cells, it makes it easier for your skin cells to repair and regenerate themselves. If your skin is damaged then exosomes will let your cells know, and kick-start the repair process. Basically, having more exosomes in your body could lead to:

  • Increased production of collagen and elastin, which helps to keep your skin looking firm, fresh and smooth
  • Increased skin cell turnover and repair, which can help smooth out rough patches, reduce pigmentation, improve the appearances of skin blemishes (such as fine lines and wrinkles) and create a more even skin tone
  • Better-hydrated skin, which will leave your skin looking more radiant and youthful
  • Faster skin healing and repair, which means less downtime after any cosmetic procedure or other treatments
  • Improved anti-inflammatory effects, which can improve conditions like acne, rosacea, or sensitive skin

The benefits of exosomes are pretty clear – but how do you increase the number in your system? There are a few different ways to do that, but we’ve found the most efficient is through the Dermapen.

What is the Dermapen?

The Dermapen® is a microneedling device. Microneedling is a treatment that punctures tiny holes in the surface of your skin. These injuries are small enough to not cause your skin any damage, but they do trigger the body’s natural healing process. When this happens, your skin responds by producing more collagen and elastin, two proteins that keep your skin looking firm, smooth, and youthful.

But a by-product of microneedling is that your skin temporarily becomes more absorbent. This means that any serums (e.g. hyaluronic acid, peptides or exosomes) applied to your skin at this point can penetrate deeper than normal, enhancing their effectiveness.

That’s where the Dermapen comes in.

How does the Dermapen combine with exosomes?

We use the Dermapen to apply exosomes to your skin during the microneedling process. As we mentioned, your skin is highly absorbent at this point, meaning any serums applied can penetrate much deeper than normal. This is why applying exosomes using the Dermapen is much more effective than an injection, for example.

The other benefits of applying exosomes using the Dermapen include:

  • Reduced risk of bruising or redness in the treated area
  • A much shorter procedure than other treatments
  • Quicker recovery time
  • The potential for longer-lasting benefits
